Buyer guide · Updated 9 October 2026
Quick answer: Choose a personalised gift when the detail genuinely matters and there is enough time to produce it. Choose a ready-made gift when flexibility, exchange options or a tight deadline matter more. Check the actual postcode and production time before promising a delivery date.
Two kinds of gift, different trade-offs
| Decision | Personalised gift | Ready-made gift |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient fit | Name, photo or message can make it specific | Choose for a known interest or practical use |
| Preparation | Artwork or personalization approval may add time | Stock and packing availability still matter |
| Changes | Check rules before approving the custom design | Check seller-specific cancellation and return terms |
| Value | Quality of the customization and final product | Utility, quality and the complete delivered price |
IGP’s current catalogue includes selected same-day personalised gift listings, but that is not a universal promise for every product, city or postcode. The product and destination shown at checkout determine the relevant availability. For other marketplaces, verify the seller’s handling time rather than assuming the delivery estimate begins immediately.
Work backward from the occasion
If a birthday is on Friday, leave time for production, dispatch, transit and a problem being corrected. A last-minute order with a customized spelling error can be harder to resolve than a ready-made item. Check whether the estimated date is arrival or dispatch, and whether it is measured in working or calendar days.
- Confirm the recipient’s interests and any size or compatibility requirement.
- Preview spelling, photo crop, colours and the final message.
- Check included accessories and dimensions rather than only the main image.
- Compare delivered price, gift packing and taxes.
- Read the policy for custom items before approving production.
- Avoid putting sensitive personal information into a gift design unnecessarily.
Compare the actual value
Illustration: Gift A is ₹800 with ₹150 delivery and ₹100 gift wrapping. Gift B is ₹950 with the required delivery and wrapping included. Both total ₹1,050 versus ₹950 respectively; the cheaper product sticker does not give the cheaper completed order. A discount percentage based on a list price is less useful than the final amount for the item you want.
A gift should not require the recipient to spend more just to use it. Check whether a lamp includes a power adapter, whether a game fits the recipient’s age and group size, or whether a voucher requires a minimum purchase. Practical details can create more value than an exaggerated “perfect gift” claim.
Questions answered
Does same-day delivery apply to all personalized gifts?
No. Check the exact item, destination and order cutoff shown by the seller.
Can I return an item with a printed name?
Check the seller’s custom-item terms before ordering. Do not assume the ordinary return policy applies unchanged.
Should I choose the largest discount?
Compare the final delivered cost, quality and recipient fit. A large percentage does not establish the best value.
