SBI SimplyCLICK vs SimplySAVE: Online Shopping or Everyday Spending?

India · Finance guide · Updated 9 October 2026

Quick answer: SimplyCLICK is oriented toward qualifying online shopping. SimplySAVE focuses on eligible everyday categories such as dining, movies, departmental stores and groceries. Compare the cash value of points after redemption costs, not the multiplier alone.

Compare the right reward units

These are the regular SimplyCLICK and SimplySAVE comparisons. A similarly named Advantage variant can have different units or terms. Check the card name on the application and agreement. Amazon is not automatically a current 10X SimplyCLICK partner just because an older article says so.

Why 10X does not mean 10% cashback

A reward multiplier describes points earned, not rupees returned. The value depends on the rupee spending block, value per redeemed point, rounding and any redemption charge. For example, if a hypothetical card gives 10 points per ₹150 and each point can be redeemed for ₹0.25, the effective value is ₹2.50 per ₹150, about 1.67%, before fees. Change the redemption value and the effective return changes too. This example explains the method; confirm the actual redemption option yourself.

Build two realistic baskets

For an online-heavy basket, write down the websites used, whether payment is direct or through a wallet, and whether purchases will be converted to EMI. For an everyday basket, note where groceries and dining are bought. A shop selling groceries may be classified differently by its payment terminal, and accelerated points can depend on merchant coding rather than what an item looks like.

Calculate expected annual points separately for each category, then convert only the points you expect to redeem. Subtract renewal fees and taxes if the waiver will not be met naturally. Do not count a one-time welcome gift every year. Do not give unused vouchers their full face value: a ₹500 voucher is worth less to you if it requires a purchase you would otherwise skip.

A simple decision rule

  • Choose based on your existing transaction mix, rather than shifting essential spending to earn a multiplier.
  • If both produce similar value, simplicity and redemption flexibility can decide the shortlist.
  • If spending is small, compare a no-annual-fee alternative before adding another account.
  • Keep the full statement payment date separate from the shopping date.

Questions answered

Does the same ₹1 lakh waiver make these cards identical?

No. The qualifying spending and rewards can differ, and the cardholder still needs to check exclusions and the timing of fee reversal.

Can I compare points directly with cashback?

Convert points into the value of a redemption you will actually use, then deduct relevant charges. Points totals alone are not comparable with rupees.

Should I hold both cards?

Only if the incremental reward on normal spending outweighs the second card’s fees and administrative burden. Two cards do not create extra value just by existing.
