Live+ is a cashback-focused card, while TravelOne focuses on travel rewards and redemption partners. Compare the value you can actually use after fees, category caps and exclusions, rather than choosing from a headline benefit.
Two different ways of receiving value
Cashback reduces the amount you pay, subject to the card’s crediting rules. Travel rewards require a redemption decision: airline miles, hotel points or another permitted option. The same number of reward points can have different practical value depending on availability and the booking you make.
Map the card to your spending
On its current Live+ page, HSBC lists 10% accelerated cashback up to ₹1,200 a month across specified eligible categories, and 1.5% on most other eligible spending. This does not make every merchant purchase eligible. Read the category definitions and exclusions.
TravelOne lists accelerated points on flights, travel aggregators and foreign-currency spending. A foreign transaction also needs a cost comparison: exchange rates, markup and applicable taxes can outweigh reward value on a small purchase.
Compare annual net value
Estimate eligible cashback or conservatively valued redemptions for a normal year. Subtract membership fees, taxes, redemption charges and transaction costs. Count a welcome benefit only once and only if you would meet its qualifying conditions without unnecessary purchases.
Travel convenience is personal
Check whether lounge locations and access rules match your airports. If you rarely fly, do not value a lounge visit as though you were buying one. For reward transfers, check the current partner, conversion ratio and availability before assuming that points will cover a flight.
Applications and existing customers
The campaigns reviewed have new-customer and city restrictions. These campaign conditions are separate from HSBC’s underwriting rules. Use the provider application to confirm your eligibility and submit documents directly to the bank or its authorised application channel.
Compare the decision factors
| Option or factor | When it fits | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Live+ | You can use cashback on eligible routine spending | Monthly acceleration cap, exclusions and current fees |
| TravelOne | You regularly book travel and can use partner rewards | Redemption value, transfer partners, markup and current fees |
| Either card | You repay statement balances in full | Interest and late charges can outweigh rewards |
Frequently asked questions
Is 1:1 transfer the same as ₹1 per point?
No. A points-to-miles conversion ratio does not establish a cash value. Redemption value depends on the booking.
Can both cards be compared only by annual fee?
No. Include usable rewards, exclusions, service conditions and payment costs.
Does the listing guarantee approval?
No. HSBC decides approval and final terms after reviewing the application.
